Durable and reliable filter screens made from high nickel alloys

Replacement of damaged or poor performing filter components is essential to ensure the uninterrupted service of filter plants. Heanjia manufactures high quality cleaning filter screens for use in upstream of UV disinfection equipments. High grade alloys are used in saline lake beds, shipboard reverse osmosis desalination, plant desalination and developed water applications to reduce the replacement needs of components due to corrosion, to enhance sustainability and decrease the maintenance and labor expenditures.

With highly reliable screens, the filtration performance of filters increases significantly. 100% particles are removed that one can see a significant fall in particle density through filter cake effect.

The filter cake effect shows that extent of filtrations becomes finer by dirt accumulated through the screens. It helps to obtain minimum 25% reduction in particles at the 5 to 15 range.

Benefits of filter screens

  • Allow automatic backwash
  • Less downtime of system
  • Nominal time spent on regular maintenance
  • No waste from disposable bags and cartridges
  • Not much water used for backwash
  • Durable structure
  • Predictable filtration
  • Removes all types of contaminants irrespective of density
  • Higher flow rates
  • Robust design
  • No need to install multiple units in the system

Customized filter screens are used for shipboard reverse osmosis desalination. The filter screens are custom made from duplex stainless steel and high nickel alloys to withstand vigorous corrosive conditions.

New filter mesh screens made from Monel mesh are used in shipboard reverse osmosis desalination systems, they usually outperform traditional solid-liquid separation technologies in various aspects such as decreasing service costs and footprint. The level of pre-filtration screen allows continuous operation in littoral waters without any compromise with system performance or increase in service costs of maintenance.

Modern steel development

Duplex stainless steels were introduced with better welding properties through nitrogen addition. The most common duplex grades are 2205 and 2507. These steels have wide applications in a diverse range of product forms. Most grades have become popular through their nickel and chromium concentrations.

Duplex 2205 is a nitrogen containing stainless steel in which steel enhances the corrosion resistance properties of the alloy. It offers higher yield strength, almost double to traditional austenitic stainless steels, preferably in welded form. Duplex stainless steel 2205 offers good corrosion resistance in various conditions that is superior to the SS 304 and 316. This duplex grade is usually used in the tubular components and pipes where resistance to environments is required involving general corrosion and chloride based stress corrosion cracking. High strength allows the reduction in thickness and resists handling wear and tear.

The outstanding corrosion resistance of 2205 could be greater than is needed in few applications. In specific stress corrosion cracking based applications, it may be a cost-effective replacement for SS 304 and 316. Duplex 2205 has elements: nickel and molybdenum. It is a weldable, duplex stainless steel with superior corrosion resistance properties than SS 304 and 316 with economical production cost.
