Mesh Demisters/Mist Eliminators

Effective separation of vapor and liquid is a basic need for adequate industrial processing. For various kinds of fluids, physical characteristics, pressures, temperatures and flow rates to cover, Heanjia mist eliminators provide effective sorting throughout the board.

Impingement types: Various kinds of metals and alloys

Momentum types: Plain style for vertical gas flow or fouling applications. Hooked and pocketed designed for enhanced functionality.

Cyclone types: An axial flow, swirl cyclone with large capacity. Unique, economical alternative suits several applications. Mesh demister is an effective equipment for the separation of high level liquids and solids just in one stage.

Mist Eliminators can be designed to meet the specific user needs and have been described to achieve the target efficiencies of 100% on all particles that have size more than 1 micron in diameter and maximum 99.999% on submicron particles.  The latest design and operation facility in the Mist Eliminatordecrease the operation cost and material losses.  It provides more efficient operation conditions that can decrease the need of expensive materials in the downstream device even this increases the product output. Moreover the new designs also decrease the maintenance cost by eradicating the harmful mists that causes the corrosion of downstream equipment, plugging, fouling or hazardous flaming or explosions in the gas stream processes and compressed air systems.

Configuration of Mesh Mist Eliminator

Our Mesh demisters include a pad wire mesh often sandwiched among the grids for mechanical support. Excluding for units lower than 600mm diameter, these are split into segments of 300mm to 400mm wide to offer installation through a normal vessel manually. The pads are sliced slightly oversize to confirm a snug fit and hence discard any probable vapor cross either among segments or among the pad or vessel wall. Every mesh pad is produced from crimped wire mesh layers from monofilament with the direction of the crimp rotated 90 degrees in every adjacent layer to offer a uniform voidage with the high ratio of filament surface per unit volume of pad.

The standard support grids comprise of a framework of 25mm x 3 mm thick flat bar fixed to a grid comprising of 6 mm rods often gapped on 150mm centers to keep the mesh with the least obstruction of the pad face. The top and bottom grids are linked through spacer rods going through the mesh that are welded to every grid to confirm the configuration stability of the pad. The mesh pads can also be provided with the special heavy duty support grids where these are needed to offer a functional platform inside the vessel.

Our Monel mesh pads can be installed horizontally for vertical vapor passage or vertically for horizontal vapor passage. For the vertical vapor passage, the mesh pads are generally 100 to 150mm thick and for horizontal passage the thickness is 150 to 200mm or more. When mesh pad thickness is more than 300mm, the unit is divided into 2 layers so that the segments will pass through the vessels and in these cases the wire screens are fixed among layers to maintain pad integrity while installation.

Working of Mist Eliminator

A mist eliminator directs gas containing mist particles horizontally by a fiber bed. The mist particles gather on the fibers in the bed and merge to produce liquid layers. These layers then move through the fiber bed by the passage of gas, and liquid leaves the downstream face of the bed under the effect of gravity.

Innovation in the bed design improves the particle gathering efficiency with a second and coarser fiber film on the downstream side. This extra layer expedites draining and avoids the re-entrance of the liquid back into the gas.   On the base of user needs, different designs are prepared that can yield maximum 40% lower pressure drop without affecting the gathering efficiency of the particles if compared to the traditional mist eliminating techniques. A user can save money by using less energy to get the large mist collection efficiency with minor pressure drop.

Applications of Mist eliminator

Mesh Demister Pad removes drops by impingement on the surface of alloy wire. The liquid gathered on the filaments is then capable to quit from pad under the effect of gravity. It offers only limited useful operations in which it provides almost full eradication of droplets up to 3 to 5 microns.Turn down range of vapor rate is almost 3:1. At abruptly large vapor speeds, the liquid droplets that impose on the surface of wire are removed by vapor and re-entrained prior they are drained. At quite low vapor velocities, all but the larger drops are able to follow the vapor path through the mesh and hence prevent imposing, although inherent design of the separator vessel means that in the several application an apparent turndown functionality of 10:1 can be received.

Mist eliminators are well fabricated to eradicate mechanically produced entrainment from packed and trayed process towers, spray columns, venturi scrubbers and other gas scrubbing devices. These are commonly used de-entrainment equipment in knock out drums and separators.
