Perforated metals
Perforated metal provides an architectural freedom in choosing the design projects that you want. However, these have been in use for over 100 years, every day new applications are designed to meet the variable demands of the present world. Now, the perforated metal has been being used for the various applications than ever earlier. New construction projects use perforated metal as acoustical wall and ceiling panels, hand rail infill panels, sun shading equipments, point of purchase displays and several others limited only to your imagination.
The options of Perforated metal not only enables the architecture to choose the kind of material but also the option of perforation patterns and open area % needed for the specific operations. The perforations not only decrease the weight of the material but also enable you to monitor the airflow, extent of visibility and sound levels.Our computer based perforating presses provide the designer more freedom in the options than ever before.
The following standards are prepared to aid designers, engineers and purchasers of perforated products in choosing the correct item for their application. For simplicity, we have adopted the general terminology that is used by the commercial perforators association. For closer tolerances than mentioned in this article, please contact us.
Perforated sheet and plate size specification
(36 x 96 inch, 36 x 120 inch, 48 x 96 inch, 48 x 120 inch)
The width and length will be standard mill shearing plus any stretch of the metal through perforation, until otherwise specified. For carbon steel sheets or plates, our tolerances match with the AISI institute.
Sheets and plates resheared after perforation
Length and width tolerances for:
Thickness less than 1/8inch = -1/32 inch
Thickness 1/8 inch to 3/16 incl = -1/16 inch
Thickness larger than 3/16 inch to ½ inch incl= -1/8 inch
Thickness larger than 1/20 inch = contact us
We also provide the custom re-square tolerances.
Perforations
Round Perforations: Staggered (60 degree pattern) is standard. Options include 45 degree staggered and straight line pattern.
Square Perforation: Staggered pattern or straight line pattern.
Slotted perforations: Side staggered, end staggered or straight lines. The slotted perforations will be circular end slots.
Custom perforations are provided on request.
Spacing ofperforations
Perforation spacing is decided by either perforation centres or by the open area.
Perforation patterns:
Unfinished end pattern: Due to the tool design, some specifications of staggered pattern perforation offer a design that seems incomplete at the both ends of the metal sheet. It is an industrial standard.
Finished end pattern:Due to the tool design some specifications of staggered perforations offer a complete pattern on the both ends of the plate.
Staggered perforations, both round and square: the staggered pattern is generally in the short dimension of the sheet. The holes in a straight row pattern are normally parallel to long sheet dimension.
Slotted Perforations:Slots are produced parallel with the length or width of the sheet in many cases.
